Our History
The Decore family has been in the hotel business since 1963 when John and Maureen Decore purchased the Maligne Lodge in Jasper, Alberta. Passionate about Rocky Mountain hospitality, the Decore’s acquired a second Jasper hotel, the Tonquin Inn, in 1978.
The Decore family is still passionate about the hotel business and everything Jasper, Alberta has to offer visitors from around the world. Situated in Jasper National Park, the Canadian Rockies provide a striking backdrop for our hotels, and we work hard to ensure our operations honour and complement this treasured environment.

When you book your room on our website, we will match your donation dollars to any one of the kids’ charities we support. It’s our way of giving back to children in the communities we cherish.
We support several youth-based programs and initiatives, including:
Little Warriors
Little Warriors educates adults on how to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. Little Warriors also provides information on healing and provides support resources to child sexual abuse survivors.
Our donation to Little Warriors goes to The Little Warriors Be Brave Ranch by Ray LaBonte and Family. This will be the first facility of its kind in Canada and, once built, will provide child sexual abuse survivors with a safe place to heal.
The Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta
The Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta helps build bridges of hope and pillars of support for families fighting childhood cancer. Kids Cancer Care helps Alberta children and families by providing funding programs in: Camp & Community; Pediatric Oncology Research; Clinical Support; and the KCC Derek Wandzura Memorial Scholarship.
Jasper Freeride Freestyle Ski Team
The Jasper Freeride Freestyle Ski Team focuses on developing advanced freestyle skiing skills in young athletes. Our sponsorship gives children, who otherwise couldn’t afford it, the opportunity to participate in, and travel to, ski racing events. The ski team provides skiers of all ages and abilities the opportunity to participate in an alpine racing program that promotes safety, sportsmanship and a lifelong love of skiing.
