Alberta is fortunate to have some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world but at Decore Hotels, we feel it is the people of these communities who bring visitors back, year after year. As a family-owned business, Decore Hotels and its President Karyn Decore, are particularly involved in supporting youth-based programs and initiatives:
Protecting Children and Educating Adults
The founder of Little Warriors, Glori Meldrum, is herself a survivor of child sexual abuse and a close friend of the Decore family. Her personal experiences with sexual abuse and her desire to educate adults led her to establish this national charitable organization. Little Warriors provides information on how to recognize, prevent and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. By providing the tools necessary to understand sexual abuse and the effect it has on young lives, Little Warriors offers hope and healing to the most innocent of our community.
Supporting Little People with Big Battles
Karyn Decore’s mother Maureen was a vibrant woman who enjoyed life and spending time with her family. As founder of Decore Hotels she was highly respected in the business community and was well-loved by her business associates and friends. Maureen lost her battle with cancer in March of 2007 but her legacy lives on. Decore Hotels continues to support many organizations that help battle this disease and is especially committed to the Kids with Cancer Society. As a mother of two, Karyn believes strongly in this cause. The Kids with Cancer Society provides support and funding for children and families affected by cancer.
Providing Opportunities to Achieve
Decore Hotels’ properties are located in the beautiful mountains of Alberta for good reason – it is where the Decore family loves to spend their time! Avid skiers and outdoor enthusiasts, the family shows their support of athletic pursuits by sponsoring the Jasper Freeride Ski Club. Their sponsorship allows children, who otherwise cannot afford it, the opportunity to participate and travel to ski racing events. The ski team provides skiers of all ages and abilities the opportunity to participate in an alpine racing program that promotes safety, sportsmanship and a lifelong love of skiing.
