The Decore family has been in the hotel industry since 1963 when John V. Decore, a young lawyer from Edmonton, purchased the Maligne Lodge in Jasper, Alberta. Together with his wife Maureen, John was passionate about the hotel business. In 1978, he acquired a second property in Jasper, the Tonquin Inn, and the business continued to grow from there.
In 1991, John and Maureen’s eldest daughter, Karyn, began working for the family business and, 13 years later in 2004, their youngest daughter, Nicole, also joined the team. Today the successful sisters run the company.
Both Karyn and Nicole inherited their parents’ passion for the hotel business. They are inspired by their parents’ love of entertaining, traveling, adventure, the arts and friendship. In addition, they continue to support numerous charities, particularly those that support children.
